Scott D. McMurtrey has been telling stories for most of his life. He began his first novel at twenty and completed it at twenty-seven, beginning a lifelong pursuit of imagined worlds, difficult choices, and characters tested by forces larger than themselves.
Before establishing Fynixfire Media, Scott served in the United States Marine Corps, completed extensive electronics training, and attained the rank of Sergeant. His career later included teaching electronics, working as a radio engineer at a national laboratory, and spending nearly three decades in fire protection design and engineering management.
His fiction ranges across Victorian mystery, dark fantasy, science fiction, supernatural suspense, and mythological thrillers. Across those genres, his stories repeatedly explore duty, sacrifice, identity, justice, and the consequences of power.
Scott lives in Idaho with his wife, who remains his first reader and most trusted critic. When he is not writing, he enjoys reading, music, and catch-and-release fishing. His books are published through Fynixfire Media—Where Stories Wait Patiently.
