For Jason Wright, retirement has brought more silence than peace. Once a Marine and radio engineer, he spends his days surrounded by the remnants of the life he shared with Linda, unable to repair the one loss that matters most.
Then, while clearing his workshop, Jason discovers the Osborne 1 computer on which he began writing decades earlier. Restoring the aging machine gives him something familiar to hold on to—until its screen begins revising his words on its own. A voice calling itself Elias knows his unfinished stories, the memories behind them, and the grief Jason has never learned to name.
What begins as an impossible conversation becomes a passage into a vast library of unwritten possibilities, where imagination has consequences and the boundary between a story and the person telling it is far less certain than Jason ever believed.
To find his way forward, Jason must confront the stories he abandoned, the life he cannot reclaim, and the possibility that a new beginning can be written without forgetting what came before.
