The Weight of Millions
Scott D. McMurtrey
Book Two in The Second Death series
Twelve children have escaped the horrors of the Osiris Platform. They have their names again, but the system that treated their lives as research material remains largely intact—and the powerful men behind it are determined to bury the evidence.
Aurelia Cotta, bound to an ancient judgment and haunted by the hunger of the Devourer, can feel the weight of their crimes. Yet saving the children has brought her face to face with an unbearable truth: the Scales may demand punishment, but justice cannot be measured by hunger alone.
As Commander Whitmore and Dr. Eleanor Ashford pursue the human machinery of corruption, Aurelia and Tenzin follow the trail of missing records, concealed victims, and protected perpetrators. Their search leads toward Alistair Howard and a reckoning that threatens more than those who stand accused.
To protect the living and honor the dead, Aurelia must confront the cost of judgment—and the heart she thought she had lost.
